Amazon Hiring 9K Workers In Maryland Ahead Of Holidays

AMAZON: Amazon this week announced it plans to hire more than 250,000 workers for the 2023 holiday season, and about 9,000 of those jobs are in Maryland, according to the company and a report.

In a news release, Amazon officials said the company is looking to fill seasonal, full- and part-time fulfillment center and transportation roles in hundreds of cities and towns across the United States.

According to Amazon, the average pay for positions is $20.50 per hour with some locations offering as much as $28 per hour.

“Whether someone is looking for a short-term way to make extra money, or is hoping to take their first step toward a fulfilling and rewarding career at Amazon, there’s a role available for them,” John Felton, Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide operations, said in a statement.

In Maryland, Amazon is hiring in the following locations, according to a WMAR report:

  • Baltimore: more than 7,500 employees.
  • Hagerstown: more than 650 employees.
  • Prince George’s County: more than 400 employees.
