Greenbelt Labor Day Festival

Community Center, Room 110. “The Knowing Hands That Carve This Stone: The New Deal Art of Lenore Thomas Straus.”

67th Annual Greenbelt Labor Day Parade
10am-Noon
The parade will entertain you with a variety of groups, demonstrating our community spirit and accentuating our city’s diverse cultural background. The Greenbelt Police Department Color Guard will lead off the parade, which will include a pipe and drum corps, numerous local community groups and businesses, fire trucks and local politicians. The Grand Marshal is Greenbelt’s Outstanding Citizen. Master of Ceremonies will be Dave Zahren, host of “It’s Academic.” Parade Route: down Crescent Rd. from Greenhill to Southway. Parade is marshaled by members of the Prince George’s County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (PG-ARES) with assistance from the Eleanor Roosevelt High School National Honor Society.

Carnival And Booths
11am-6pm
Midway. Rides by Rosedale Attractions. Games, food, sale, and information booths presented by Greenbelt organizations. Booths constructed and wired by Greenbelt Public Works Department. Ride tickets sold by volunteers from the Eleanor Roosevelt High School National Honor Society. No charge for entertainment, shows, or events unless noted.

Bingo
11am-6pm
Community Center Lawn. Head for the picnic tables for BINGO benefitting Greenbelt Youth Baseball. Food donations will be collected to support St. Hugh’s food pantry.

Luncheon On The Lawn
12-2pm
Greenbelt Community Church, Corner of Hillside and Crescent Rd. After parade. Barbeque sandwich or hot dog, baked beans, slaw, chips, drink, and dessert for one reasonable price.

Historic House Tours
12-2pm
Museum House, 10B Crescent Road. Come by for a short tour of the Museum house. Tours offered on the half hour during open hours. See how a typical Greenbelt family would have lived in the late 30s to the early 50s.

Award Presentations
12 -1pm
Stage. Presentation of awards for the Art Show, Photo Show, Best Entry in each parade category, and Best in Parade.

Art Show And Photo Show
12-4pm
Community Center Gym. View entries submitted by local artists and photographers. Artists and photographers: pick up artwork and photos at 4:00.

Craft Fair
12-6pm
Roosevelt Center. Visit with local artists as they display and sell their handmade crafts.

Fast Eddie And The Slowpokes
3:00-6pm
Stage. Fast Eddie and the Slowpokes’ playlist is inspired by classic blues material from Chicago to West Coast Swing, Motown to Muscle Shoals, and all the rock ’n’ roll in between. Their goal is to get you up on your feet, and they never miss their target! Sponsored by Greenbelt Auto & Truck Repair

Greenbelt American Legion Family Picnic
3-7pm
Greenbelt American Legion. After enjoying Labor Day Festival activities in Roosevelt Center, have fun at the Greenbelt American Legion Labor Day Family Picnic. Fun events for children and adults.
