Bowie State Women’s Hoops Earn Bye; Will Play on Thursday, Men’s Hoops to Face Shaw Tuesday in CIAA Tourney

BOWIE STATE ATHLETICS:

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced the brackets for its 2023 Women’s and Men’s Basketball Tournament. Bowie State women’s basketball earned the No. 4 seed and Bowie State men’s basketball were named the No. 10 seed.

The single-elimination tournament will be held in CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, Md., on February 21-25. Championship games will tip-off at 1 p.m. for the men followed by the women at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 25. Each bracket is seeded 1 through 12 based on conference winning percentage.  

As the No. 4 seed in the women’s bracket, the Bulldogs will have a bye and will face the winner between Elizabeth City State (No. 5) and St. Augustine’s (No. 12) on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. 

The Bulldogs men’s squad will square off with the No. 7 seed Shaw during the opening round of the men’s basketball bracket on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 6:40 p.m.

All 22 games will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN+ (https://plus.espn.com/) with the championship games also being shown on ESPNU.
