Bowie State women’s bowling went undefeated over three days of competition against Northern Division opponents at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event II hosted by Elizabeth City State.
The three-day event victory was the second undefeated weekend for the program this season. The Bulldogs went 12-0 behind a team total pins of 6,968 and Baker total pins (2,166), combining for 9,134 total. Senior Chalia Gray claimed the Northern Division’s highest average with an impressive 165.78 mark while graduate senior Paris Anthony tabbed the Northern Division’s highest game at 201.
BSU dominated the entire weekend and it started on Friday when the Bulldogs rolled to wins over Virginia State twice (841-512) – the match Anthony recorded 201 and (776-454), twice against Elizabeth City State (845-660) and (741-642) and Virginia Union (706-560). Gray combined for 816 total pinfalls to lead the Bulldogs including a high of 182 against VUU on the day.
Bowie State would continue its supremacy on Saturday, tacking on a pair of victories over the Lady Panthers (768-463), (764-509) as well as ECSU (756-588) and VSU (771-504). Gray spun 196 during game three against the Trojans and 187 against VUU (Game 1) for 675 total pins. Additionally, senior Olivia Watts also rolled a 180 performance against the Lady Panthers while Anthony followed Gray with a combined 608 total pinfalls.
Not much changed for the Bulldogs in the Bakers round – BSU cruised to victories over Virginia Union (661-508), Elizabeth City State (742-661) and Virginia State (763-538).
Bowie State extends its win-streak to 25 straight this season and improves its overall record to 29-8 overall and 24-0 in the CIAA.
