BOWIE STATE ATHLETICS: Bowie State women’s basketball sophomore Anii Harris was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Player of the Week on Tuesday after her efforts last week.
The CIAA women’s basketball weekly honors are determined weekly and announced on Tuesdays throughout the regular season.
The Bowie State guard averaged 17 points over two games last week. In the 70-63 victory over the University of the District of Columbia, the Ellicott City, Md., native scored a career-high 25 points. Leading 65-63 with under a minute to play, Harris made both her free throws to make it a two-possession game. She finished 11-of-14 from the charity stripe.
Harris and her teammates return to action Wednesday evening at Goldey-Beacom. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
