Bowie Teen Wins TikTok Challenge, Earns Chipotle For A Year

PATCH: A social media contest to find the best-tasting Chipotle order using the restaurant’s new chicken al pastor dish has turned up a winner in Bowie.

Teen Anthony Juan Hernandez entered the Chipotle taste test contest led by TikTok food critic Keith Lee. According to WUSA, Hernandez posted his winning video on TikTok saying he couldn’t wait for his family to try his Chipotle order since his dad owns a Mexican restaurant and serves al pastor, too.

His order was reviewed by Keith Lee who said he loved the bowl, giving it an 8.5 out of 10. Now, Hernandez has been awarded free Chipotle every day for a year. As part of posting the winning entry, his go-to order is available on the Chipotle app for a limited time.

Chipotle Mexican Grill launched its chicken al pastor, a new protein option, at its restaurants around the world for a limited time in March. Chicken al pastor is made with chicken, seasoned with a marinade of Chipotle’s signature adobo, morita peppers and ground achiote, with a splash of pineapple. It’s finished with fresh lime and hand-chopped cilantro.

“Guests are looking to restaurants for unique menu items they cannot make at home, and al pastor has been gaining mass appeal in recent years,” said Chris Brandt, chief marketing officer for Chipotle. “We’ve put our own spicy spin on al pastor with our freshly grilled chicken and have created a truly delicious menu item that fans will crave. It’s where fire meets flavor.”
