Special Screening Of Movie Kicks Off Prince George’s Film Festival

PATCH: The Prince George’s Film Festival will host a special opening night film screening in collaboration with Prince George’s County’s Office of the County Executive.

The festival, dedicated to celebrating cinema and local creativity, will showcase MegaMind Media’s film “The Deadly Getaway,” which was filmed within the borders of Prince George’s County.

“The Deadly Getaway is a testament to the remarkable talent and greatness that grows in Prince George’s,” Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks said. “We were proud to use ARPA funding to support the Prince George’s Film Office’s Grant Program, which aims to empower local artists like MegaMind Media to create exceptional works that reflect our shared experiences. We remain committed to championing the efforts of our local artists in any way possible.”

MegaMind Media also is a recipient of the Prince George’s Film Office’s Film Grant Program. This program was established and supported by the county’s American Rescue Plan Act to provide resources and support for local businesses, including filmmakers.

“As a Prince Georgian, 2022 Award Grantee and sponsor of the festival, having The Deadly Getaway as the Opening Night film is heartwarming and rewarding. It is my hope that both seasoned and aspiring individuals wanting to grow in the film business join us,” said Tressa Azarel Smallwood, chief executive officer of MegaMind Media.

The opening night screening of The Deadly Getaway will take place Sept. 28 at The Center for Performing Arts at Prince George’s Community College. The event will mark the beginning of the Prince George’s Film Festival, which will run from Sept. 29–Oct. 1.
