The Bulldogs are 3-23 all-time and have not won the road (0-12) against the Marauders entering Wednesday’s doubleheader. However, Bowie State did win the lasting out between the two, sweeping the Marauders, 3-0 and 5-4 during 2022. The sweep snapped a nine-game losing skid for BSU against Millersville.
LAST TIME OUT
BSU (25-9) swept the visiting Tigers of Salem on Friday. The Bulldogs racked up eight runs in route to a 8-4 win in the opener. Senior Akirra Pullen (8-4) started in the circle and picked up the win for Bowie State (24-9). The right-hander went 4.1 innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on eight hits, allowing no walks and striking out one.
At the plate, the Bulldogs were paced by sophomore Lindsey George, who went 1-for-2 on the day with a home run, two walks and three RBI. Pullen put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI. Sophomore Karen Fritzges also contributed for Bowie State, putting together two hits in two trips to the plate while adding two RBI.
During game two, the Bulldogs picked up where they left off as all Bowie State starters reached base in the 10-2 run rule victory. Fritges (8-1) picked up the win, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on three hits, allowing three walks and striking out two. Freshman Alaysia Ross also pitched well, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking one and striking out two. At the plate, the Bulldogs were led by sophomore Sydney Edmond, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a double and three RBI. Sophomore Morgan Joseph put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a triple and a walk. Sophomore Jayla Hill also contributed for Bowie State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.BOWIE STATE LEADERS
George leads the team in batting with a .385 average, 30 hits and five home runs. Pullen leads the team in home runs with six on the year to go along with a batting average of .338, 27 RBI and 26 hits. Hill leads the Bulldogs in RBI with 28 to go along with a batting clip of .307, 27 hits and four home runs as well. In the circle, sophomore Karen Fritges has a ERA of 1.20 while Pullen and George post 3.09 and 3.80, respectively. Defensively, sophomore Brittany Brewer has 133 putouts – a team best while sophomore Kayla Evans and Sydney Edmond both have 45 and 38 assists on the season.
MILLERSVILLE
The Marauders are 19-17 overall, welcoming the Bulldogs with a 8-6 record at home. Millersville split with Bloomsburg last time out, falling 9-0 in the opening but bouncing back in game two by a final of 5-3. The Marauders have two common opponents with Bowie State including the Huskies of Bloomsburg and Goldey-Beacom.

Bowie State will host Virginia Union in a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 15 at 1 p.m., followed by a twinbill with Virginia State on Sunday, Apr. 15 at 12 noon for senior day.
