PATCH: PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD — Maryland’s newest Mega Millions millionaire bought the winning ticket from the Jan. 6 drawing at Marlboro Liquors in Upper Marlboro.
According to the Maryland Lottery, five players in Maryland, Florida, New Jersey and New York, which had two winners, matched five of the winning numbers in the drawing to capture the $1 million second-tier prize.
No one won the Mega Millions jackpot in the last drawing, which rolled to an estimated annuity value of $1.1 billion for the Jan. 10 drawing with an estimated cash option of $568.7 million. The jackpot is the third-largest in the game’s history and the fifth-largest in U.S. lottery history.
Maryland’s $1 million winning Mega Millions ticket carries the first five winning numbers: 3, 20, 46, 59 and 63, but missed out on winning the jackpot because it did not match the Mega ball number of 13. The optional Megaplier number was 3.
This is Maryland’s second $1 million winning Mega Millions ticket sold in 2023. The state had four $1 million winning tickets in 2022, three in 2021, two in 2020, two in 2019, three in 2018 and one in 2017.
The retailer located at 5725 Crain Highway in Prince George’s County will receive a $2,500 bonus for selling the ticket.
