BOWIE STATE ATHLETICS: Bowie State football student-athletes Joshua Pryor and Jordan Griffin earned Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Super Region Two accolades, announced Thursday.
Both Pryor and Griffin are two of five Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) players to be selected to the All-Region list.
Pryor capped off an outstanding career in the Black and Gold earning his first D2CCA First Team All-Region selection in 2022. He led the Bulldogs defense this season in tackles (47). The Baltimore, Md., native registered 10.5 tackle for losses (52-yards), 3.5 sacks (30-yards), eight pressures, two forced fumbles and a pair of breakups this season. Pryor was named the 2022 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-CIAA. The redshirt senior holds the program record for career sacks (32-237), quarterback hurries (38) and ranks second behind head coach Kyle Jackson in total career tackles (245).
Griffin, a native of Hyattsville, Md., earned a Second Team All-Super Region Two selection – the first of his career. The 6-foot-7 tight end appeared in all 10 games where he shined late for the Bulldogs, posting his best act in the last two regular season games combining for 118-yards on six catches. His notable performance came against Lincoln (PA) where he recorded four catches for 56-yards capped by a 28-yard reception TD. Additionally, Griffin earned All-CIAA First Team honors this past season.
