Bulldogs Sweep Goldey-Beacom for First Win of the Season

BOWIE STATE ATHLETICS: The Bowie State women’s volleyball team swept the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College in three sets (25-20, 25-15, 25-15) Thursday night for its first win of the 2022 season.

Offensively, the Bulldogs were led by graduate senior Jailyn Ivey (Bowie, MD) with 11 kills. Junior Lindsey Grossman recorded nearly a triple double with seven kills, 11 assists and 10 digs while graduate senior Kendal Hoges () added six kills and two blocks. Additionally, junior Neysha Washington (Winchester, VA) posted a match high 12 digs.

The Bulldogs got off to a good start in the opening, hitting .391 from the floor and never looked back as the first set win set the tone for the rest of the way.

With the win Bowie State improves to 1-1 on the year while Goldey-Beacom remains winless at 0-7 on the season. GBC was led by Nina Bongiovanni with nine kills while Autumn Spendlove finished with 20 assists and Claudia Camporro aided eight stops.

The Bulldogs will remain home on Sept. 13 to host Trinity (DC) for a non-conference tilt slated for 6 p.m. in McKeldin Gymnasium.
