See the Girls and Boys Athletes from the WCAC and Prince George’s County on the 2021-22 All-Met Basketball Team

On Tuesday, The Washington Post announced their 2021-22 All-Met team for boys and girls basketball. The lists were compiled of the top High School Basketball players in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas, ranking them as first team, second team, third team, fourth team, and honorable mention.

The 2021-22 boys list consisted of 17 WCAC athletes, 8 PG County athletes, and one independent school athlete. Notable standouts for the boys were St.Paul Guard and VI WCAC Player of the Year Dug Mcdaniel, committed to playing at Michigan next season. Bishop Macnamara Forward Favour Aire also earned first-team honors. He led the Mustangs to the WCAC Championship during his senior season and signed to Miami. Guard Mikhai Arnold from Fredrick Douglass, who signed to Buffalo, also earned first-team honors. He led the Eagles to the state championship while leading the team in points averaging 19 per game. Isaiah Coleman from National Christian was the only junior to receive boys first-team honors. Even though the Eagles played a national schedule, Coleman was able to lead his team to the Metro Private School Conference championship.

The 2021-22 girls list featured 13 WCAC athletes, four PG County athletes, and four independent school athletes. The list was led by Bishop Macnamara Senior Guard Gia Cooke, who signed to Texas A&M after being a key piece in leading the Mustangs to the WCAC Championship, earning first-team honors. In addition, new Hope Academy had two players receive first-team honors, senior guards Jalyn Brown and Kennedy Fauntleroy. The pair dominated together all season, leading New Hope to a National Association of Christian Athletes Division I championship and recognition as one of the Nations’s top teams.

You still have time to see Gia Cooke, Jaylyn Brown, and Kennedy Faunteroy play as both Bishop Macnamara and New Hope Academy Girls Basketball will compete in the GEICO High School Basketball Nationals at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Ft. Myers, Florida, on March 31 to April 2. The tournament invites the top basketball teams in the country to compete in a single-elimination tournament, all games will be broadcasted on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, or ESPN+.
