Charles H Flowers Head Coach Roderick Hairston looks to win Seventh State Championship

Roderick Hairston, the Head Coach of Charles H. Flowers’ Jaguars Girls Basketball team looks to add to his Maryland 4A girls basketball state championship list this winter. Hairston has led the Jaguars to be one of the best girls basketball teams in the state this season, holding on to a 17-1 record heading into the Final Four of the state tournament. On the floor this season, the Jaguars have been led by Senior Beluh Odiong, who leads the team averaging ten points per game and has been a force in every game. 

In 2019-20 Flowers beat Severna Park 55-34 to win the State Title. The Jaguars are the last champion crowned for Maryland 4A girls due to Basketball to the 2020-21 State Championship being postponed. They will now look to repeat as State Champions tonight as they face an undefeated Clarksburg Team from Montgomery County at Paint Branch High School at 7:30 PM tonight.

The 2019-20 State Championship win gave Hairston the sixth title as a head coach. From 2005 to 2009, he led the Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders to five consecutive state titles. The Jaguars Coach will now have the opportunity to be the first head coach to win back-to-back Maryland 4A Girls Basketball State Titles Multiple times in their career.
